PRESS RELEASE – 13th January 2026
Bioethics Conference: A Major Topical Event
In Paris, the “Bioethics Conference” will be held at 6 rue Albert de Lapparent in the 7th district.
The opening session takes place on 19th January, in a particularly hot bioethics context. The day before the examination by the French Senate of the proposed bill on assistance in dying, and a week after the launch of the Bioethics Convention, the unique event reaffirms its ambition: make room for a debate on the major challenges facing our humanity.
Major dividing lines
Major disagreements are apparent at the very heart of the current debates: the denial of the value of life until its term, an ever more materialistic and utilitarian view of humanity, sliding towards technological eugenics and the increasing exploitation of the human body. These are major stakes which increasingly warrant a period of training.
A training course for understanding, action and commitment
The new edition of the Bioethics Conference is therefore confirming its very relevance. It is an invitation to take time to think, to acquire concrete markers for understanding, action and for commitment to the service of the most fragile.
“The human body in all its states”: Putting the human body back to its rightful place.
At a time when the human body is sometimes conceived as a mere territory to be conquered or a material to be transformed at will, the Bioethics Conference will highlight its power, its singularity and its unity through a wide range of themes: the mysteries of life in utero, fertility, the memory of the body, organ donations, the phenomenon of addiction, ageing and death.
Crossed views of experts and testimonies
On 19th, 26th January, and 2nd February, alongside Blanche Streb, Caroline Roux and Tugdual Derville, there will be contributions by:
- Dr Alix Durroux, a geriatric doctor
- Dr Pascale Mussault, a specialist on pain and the end-of-life
- Dr Stefano Mastrobuoni, a heart surgeon, specialist in organ transplants, President of the European Bioethics Institute
- Dr Louis-Marie d’Ussel, a psychiatrist specialist on addiction
- Fabrice Hadjadj, a philosopher and author
A national and international mobilisation
The Bioethics Conference is being held in over 200 towns, throughout France, and the overseas dominions as well as internationally.
